Liverpool will still be without injured trio Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Joel Matip for their Champions League meeting with FC Midtjylland this week.

The Reds host the Danish champions on Tuesday night at Anfield as they look to continue their perfect start to their European campaign, after beating Ajax last week.

They will be heavy favourites to pick up another three points, but Jurgen Klopp will have to do so without a number of players available to him.

Despite only suffering minor injuries, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Joel Matip will all remain out of contention for European duty this week.

They remain sidelined alongside Kostas Tsimikas, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and, of course, Virgil van Dijk who is out for months to come.

‘Not as far as I know… nobody told me yet. I don’t know exactly, probably nobody added but we didn’t lose anybody as well,’ said Klopp on his squad for Tuesday night.

Asked specifically on Keita, Thiago and Matip, he said: ‘Don’t think so. It’s still what I said last week, we look day by day.

‘It looks like we will need a few more days. For tomorrow night, they probably will not be ready.’

With Van Dijk and Matip out, Fabinho will continue at centre-back alongside Joe Gomez as he has done for the last two games.

Klopp will likely have significantly more options available to him for the Premier League game against West Ham on Saturday evening, with Thiago, Keita, Matip and Tsimikas all pushing to return for the weekend.

Liverpool have a busy schedule ahead, with a third straight week of Champions League action meaning they must travel to Atalanta before a trip to Manchester City on 8 November.

The manager will want as many players available as possible with the string of tough fixtures coming up.
