Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland could find themselves facing disciplinary action following their scathing comments on the performance of referee Felix Zwayer during der Klassiker on Saturday.

Dortmund looked to be on course to record a creditable drawn and remain within a point of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after their two star players combined to level a pulsating match at 2-2 three minutes into the second half.

Bellingham located the giant Norwegian striker with a perfect reverse pass and Haaland beat Manuel Neuer with a delicious first-time curling shot that found the back of the net via the inside of the far post.

Dortmund’s joy, however, turned to immense frustration when, with 15 minutes remaining, Zwayer handed Bayern a controversial penalty for handball which Robert Lewandowski duly converted.

‘For me it wasn’t a penalty, you know,’ Bellingham said afterwards. ‘Hummels is not even looking at the ball and he’s fighting to get it. It hits him and I don’t even think he’s looking at the ball.

‘You can look at a lot of the decisions in the game. You give a referee that has, you know, match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?’

Bellingham’s comments refer a scandal that rocked German football 16 years ago when disgraced former referee Robert Hoyzer was found to have taken bribes in a Bundesliga 2 match that Zwayer also officiated in.

Haaland, meanwhile, was equally dumbfounded when Zwayer opted not to check the pitchside monitor after it appeared as though Marco Reus should have been awarded a penalty.

He said: ‘It was a scandal when it comes to the referee. It was a clear penalty. I asked him why didn’t you just go and look. He said there is no need. I have to calm down a little bit now but he was arrogant.

‘He was a very arrogant referee and it seems like he wanted the headlines and he will get them now because he made many mistakes. He was not a good referee. It’s difficult and it’s s****.’
