Josh Duhamel has reportedly signed on to star in Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming movie Shotgun Wedding, after Armie Hammer stepped down from the role.

The actor, 48, is said to have joined the action comedy which is being produced by Jennifer along with Ryan Reynolds and which is due to begin shooting in the Dominican Republic in February, according to People’s sources.

Armie, 34, was initially set to star opposite Jennifer, 51, but pulled out after messages, allegedly from him detailing disturbing sexual fantasies, were leaked online.

He hit back at the claims, saying to Deadline: ‘I’m not responding to these bulls**t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.

‘Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.’

A production spokesperson added: ‘Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.’

The comedy film will follow a couple bringing their families together for a destination wedding, which starts to fall apart when they get cold feet after arriving, but are forced to come together to save their families from a hostage situation.

As well as Shotgun Wedding, JLo produced and starred in the hit films Hustlers and Second Act as well as executive producing Good Trouble and NBC’s World of Dance.

Josh also starred in 2020 films The Lost Husband and Think Like A Dog as well as making his directorial debut last year with Buddy Games. He is also set to star in Netflix’s series Jupiter’s Legacy.
