Jose Mourinho tore into his Roma players during half-time of their shock 6-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League, reportedly telling his squad that some of them aren’t good enough to play in Norway or Serie B.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss fielded a much-changed side for the clash against the Eliteserien side on an artificial surface at Aspmyra Stadio.

But Mourinho’s plan backfired as Roma found themselves on the wrong end of a humiliating defeat – arguably one of the worst of the Portuguese boss’ illustrious career.

According to Italian publication Il Corriere dello Sport, with his side down 2-1 at the break, Mourinho pulled no punches with his half-time team talk.

‘There are people among you who wouldn’t even play here in Norway, or even in Serie B,’ the Roma boss reportedly said during the break.

Though Mourinho took responsibility for the defeat in his post-match interview, he highlighted the lack of quality in his second string.

“We have a very good team, we don’t have a very good squad,” the Portuguese told Sky Sport Italy.

‘Today, we didn’t play with the team, we played with the squad, and we were punished by that.

‘If I could use the same players every match I would.

‘It’s risky because there’s a huge gulf between our first choice and second choice players. I expected better, but it’s my responsibility.’

Roma went into the game with a 100 per cent record in the Conference League, but have slipped down to second behind Bodo/Glint after Thursday’s defeat.
