Jose Mourinho scouts Burnley during Europa League clash with Olympiacos ahead of Sunday's visit with Manchester United

Jose Mourinho was in attendance to take in Burnley’s Europa League clash with Olympiakos, as he prepares to take his struggling Manchester United side to Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Portuguese watched on as Sean Dyche’s men crashed out of Europe, after missing a glut of chances to see off the Greeks.

The Clarets drew 1-1 on the night, falling to a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

Now, last season’s seventh place side can refocus on domestic affairs, after a difficult start to the season has left them with just one point from their opening three matches.

Mourinho makes his exit

Mourinho’s position at United is under increasing scrutiny, particularly amid suggestions that his relationship with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is waning.

Mourinho, wearing a hoodie and cap, was joined by members of his backroom staff as they evaluated Dyche’s side.

The Special One may well have been trying to stay out of the limelight, but that didn’t stop one young fan seeking him out, with Mourinho smiling as he signed the boy’s programme.

Mourinho sat with first-team coach Silvino Louro and scout Ricardo Formosinho.
