Jose Mourinho pokes fun at himself with social media post after Tottenham win

Jose Mourinho has taken a playful jibe at Tottenham’s performance against Ludogorets.

The north Londoners locked horns with the Bulgarian champions on Thursday night in their third Europa League Group J match.

Spurs – who suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp in their previous European outing – ran out 3-1 winners against the Bulgarians.

‘The Special One’, however, was far from happy with his team’s display in Razgrad and took to social media to playfully vent his frustrations.

Alongside an Instagram picture of himself eating a snack, Mourinho wrote: “When you win but you don’t play especially well @pfcludogorets1945.”

Jose Mourinho was less than impressed by Tottenham’s performance against Ludogorets on Thursday night

Goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Giovanni Lo Celso saw Spurs return to the summit of Group J, which they top by goal difference.

Kane’s strike was his 200th in a Tottenham shirt and has now put him 66 goals behind Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorer, Jimmy Greaves.

Jose Mourinho took to Instagram shortly after Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Ludogorets

“The numbers make him a club legend,” Mourinho said of Kane’s milestone. “What he is achieving in the Premier League and all competitions is great for such a young guy.

“Tonight, 45 minutes one goal and one assist. Can he become the record scorer? Yes I believe he can. It’s just a matter of time.”

Tottenham Hotspur: 59

Arsenal: 16

Manchester United: 7

Chelsea: 3

Manchester City: 1

Liverpool: 0

Although he was frustrated with his team’s performance as a whole, Mourinho did take some positives from the first half of Thursday’s match.

“We start the game with ambition that was different to Antwerp,” the Portuguese said. “We tried to kill the game in the first half.

“A strong half, a good performance. In Antwerp, we gave the advantage to the opponent and we couldn’t react.”

Tottenham will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromich Albion.
