Reigns returned to announce he is in remission from his second battle with leukaemia.
The Big Dog was given a hero’s welcome in Georgia by fans, as he provided a positive update on his first appearance at Raw since October.
He hugged his mum on the way to the ring before addressing a packed-out crowd who chanted: ‘This is your yard’.
Reigns said: “Thank you. I missed y’all. I’m serious. There’s no other job like this. There’s no other fanbase like you guys.”
Later in the night, Reigns would join Seth Rollins in saving Dean Ambrose from an attack by Elias, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley.
Now speculation is swirling that Reigns could make his competitive in-ring debut at Fastlane next month – the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania 35 – in an eight-man tag match, with The Shield and Braun Strowman teaming up.
It was an emotional night on Raw, during which Cena took to social media to welcome back Reigns with a classy message.
“Real superheroes exist. Back and with strength and purpose!
“It’s your yard Roman. Your time is most certainly NOW!”
A number of other superstars, including Matt Hardy, Sami Zayn and The Usos also paid tribute to Reigns.
In the ring, Reigns told those in attendance: “I used to say this was my yard, but this is our yard. I’m a man of faith, I’ve always believed in God and that he’s favoured me and looked out for me.
“I’m not going to lie, before my announcement in October I was terrified. I was scared, insecure and didn’t know if I wanted to share that secret with the world.
“I was scared to tell every body because I didn’t know how you would react. By the time I got home the outreach of people contacting me was completely overwhelming.
“It wasn’t just WWE fans, it was everyone. People who liked me, didn’t like me, everybody was surrounding me with their love and support.
“So many people prayed for me that God’s voicemail was full! The strength that you gave me.. I can do anything with that love.
“We advertised as an update, so… shall we get to the update?
“I said I was going to swing for the fences. We did better than that y’all. We didn’t just swing for the fences man, we hit a home run.
“When I tell you this I’m so grateful, I’m so humbled and so honoured to announce this… the good news is, I’m in remission y’all.
“With that being said, The Big Dog is back!”
