John Cena drops hint he is behind whopping $40,000 donation to Shad Gaspard GoFundMe page after WWE star tragically drowned

  • Cena paid tribute to Gaspard with a throwback picture on Instagram
  • Gaspard, 39, drowned on May 17 after he and his 10-year-old son Aryeh were swept out to sea during a family outing to Venice Beach, California

John Cena appears to be the person behind a generous donation to Shad Gaspard’s family on GoFundMe.

Eagle-eyed fans connected the short-lived wrestling tag teammates, after the actor paid tribute to the late WWE star with a picture of them vandalizing John Bradshaw Layfield’s limo from 2008 on Instagram.

Just like the ‘CTC’ acronym spray-painted across the vehicle on Cena’s last post, an anonymous donor wrote the message: ‘CTC RIP.’

CTC, which stands for Cryme Tyme Cenation, was a former WWE faction, compromised of Cena, Jayson Anthony Paul and Shad.

Gaspard drowned last week after he was swept out to sea in a rip tide during a family day out to Venice Beach.

In his final moments, Gaspard acted heroically to save his 10-year-old son Aryeh’s life.

An eyewitness exclusively told DailyMail.com on Friday, ‘His main concern was the safety of his son. He did everything he could to protect his boy.’

Aryeh was about ’25-35 yards out when the lifeguard rescued him,’ Kenichi Haskett, Section Chief with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Lifeguard Services revealed in a exclusive interview.

But, by the time the lifeguard went back out to rescue Shad, the rip current had pulled him out an additional 50-65 yards, making him almost 100 yards off shore.

‘This all happened in just a moment’s notice,’ Haskett said.

Early Wednesday morning, the father-of-one’s body washed up on the shore – three days after the wrestler went for a swim with his son in Venice Beach, California.

His widow, 35, took to Instagram on Thursday, describing Shad as a ‘real life superhero’ and ‘a bright force of nature, who brought joy to many’.

Haskett explained a rip current can come within seconds, and the most important thing to do is to remain calm.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office said Gaspard was found on the surfline at 2600 Ocean Walk – one mile north from where he was believed to have drowned on Sunday.
