John Bishop getting stronger amid Covid battle as he vows to work in January

John Bishop has assured fans that coronavirus is not taking him down.

The comic, 54, insisted that he’s already “getting a little stronger” after he and wife Melanie had received a positive test result on Christmas Day.

Despite revealing that they’d both been “flattened” by the deadly bug, it seems as though John is finally finding his strength again after what’s been an unconventional Christmas for the pair.

Taking to Twitter, John opened up about his recovery process as he vowed to return to work next month.

“Thank you for all the messages of support regarding my recent positive Covid test,” he penned.

But just 24 hours before his reassuring message, John shared a snap of an email from the NHS with his 3.5 million followers.

“This came through on Christmas Day,” he wrote.

He continued: “This is the worst illness I have ever had, debilitating headaches, muscle joint and even skin pain, dizziness, nausea, no appetite, incredibly chronic fatigue.

“My wife and I are fit non smokers and it’s flattened us. I don’t wish this on anyone.”

John and Melanie have since been flooded with supportive messages and kind words from others on the platform.

Fellow comedian Lenny Henry offered: “Please look after yourself big guy. Here’s to a happier and healthier 21.”
