Joan Collins opens up about turning down romp with 'charismatic' Bobby Kennedy

Dame Joan Collins has revealed that she once turned down the advances of the late Bobby Kennedy.

The 87-year-old icon – who is now celebrating seven decades in the film industry – recently sat down for a frank conversation with Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan where she made the stunning revelations.

While interviewing the Dynasty star for You Magazine, Piers asked Joan to name the most famous star whose advances she had rejected.

Joan did not hesitate in naming the former US Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy as the most iconic figure to try and sweet talk her.

However, at the time both Joan and the brother of J.F.K were married and so the actress declined his advances.

While Joan didn’t want to go into the details of the exchange too much, the Hollywood star sang the politician’s praises and admitted she ‘cried’ at news of Robert’s assassination in June 1968.

“Well, Ethel [his widow] is still alive, so I really don’t want to go into it too much because I wouldn’t want to hurt her,” Joan told Piers.

“That was one of the things I said to him: ‘I’m married, you’re married.’ But he was so charismatic.

Joan went on to reveal that the politician complimented Joan for the lace she was wearing when they first met.

She continued: “The first time we met, I was wearing black point d’esprit and he said, ‘I’ve always loved a woman in point d’esprit.”

Piers also quizzed Joan on how Bobby had taken her rejection, but the actress explained that he had been a true gent.

“He’s a gentleman, that’s all I can say,” Joan continued.

“He was another person whose death made me cry. He would have been the most marvellous president.

“I know he was hated by many but anybody who’s brilliant and clever and charismatic is hated,” Joan concuded.

Joan’s latest revelations comes shortly after the actress opened up at struggling throughout her acting career and only being taken seriously after she started to ‘lose her looks’.

Appearing alongside Jonathan Ross, Joan opened up about lacking in support as she worked to make a name for herself in Hollywood.
