Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard has spoken to Chris Smalling and Ashley Young about life in Italy as he plots life away from Old Trafford.

The midfielder teamed up with super agent Mino Raiola in 2019 in a move that did not go unnoticed in the corridors of power at the Theatre of Dreams.

Lingard, 27, has suffered a drastic loss in form over the last 18 months and has lost his place as a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That’s led to Lingard considering his future at Old Trafford, particularly following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in his favoured attacking midfield position.

The England international has attracted interest from Arsenal but would prefer a move abroad and the Independent claim he’s spoken to Smalling and Young about life in Serie A.

Smalling joined Roma on loan last summer and the Italians are keen to make his move permanent following an impressive campaign in the capital.

Young was given permission to join Inter on a free in January and the club have since extended his deal by a further 12 months after he impressed Antonio Conte.

AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder and Lingard is believed to be open to a move to the San Siro.

The midfielder had been all but set on an exit before the pandemic hit but it remains to be seen whether the Serie A giants can still fund a move for him.

United are likely to seek around £15-20m for Lingard, but his £100,000-a-week wages could prove the bigger stumbling block.
