Jeremy Clarkson’s ex Phillipa Sage admits it has been hard to get over him as his high profile career means he is everywhere she turns
Jeremy Clarkson and Phillipa Sage started off as just friends.
The pair met whilst working together on Top Gear and their friendship soon blossomed to a romantic relationship.
But Phillipa admits her split from Jeremy – who she parted ways from in 2017 – has been tough on her mental health as their “intense and high speed” relationship and its subsequent fall out left her feeling scarred.
“I think it was about seven years we were officially together, it was pretty intense and high speed,” she told the Driven Chat podcast.
“We are vaguely in touch, yeah, but I’m pretty bruised by it so I don’t get too involved.”

Phillipa confessed it took her a “long time” to get over the television personality because he was “all over the place”.
“It took a long time for me to get over it because you can’t escape,” she added.
“Especially because he’s all over the place.”
She even found it difficult to watch shows like The Grand Tour because she was “pretty sore” after their split – although she now has “moved on” from their break up and enjoys watching the programme.
She said: “It’s really nice actually, now I can enjoy watching The Grand Tour because yeah, I was pretty sore afterwards because I couldn’t work with him anymore.
“I’ve moved on, I enjoy watching them all, they still make me laugh.”
Phillipa had previously explained how she felt she would always be with Jeremy.
She told Hertfordshire Life: “We were all burned out and the stress of it all caused my worst breakdown ever. Truly the lowest point in my life. But it was to prove the glorious turning point.
“Jeremy was the love of my life and I thought it would be forever, but it wasn’t to be. And I’m actually grateful for my breakdown because it put an end to that mad life. I needed to go through decompression.
“Nobody has been enjoying travel or social events this year, but I don’t miss the life at all, although I’m very grateful to have done it.”
She also joked that managing ex Jeremy, and his presenting pals Richard Hammond and James May has “made her very calm”.
“My experience managing horses, dogs, and three Top Gear presenters has certainly made me very calm,” she quipped.
“Now I think I am ready to share the techniques!”
