Jennifer Aniston has penned an emotional tribute to Friends co-star James Michael Tyler after the actor who played Gunther died on Sunday.

The star passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles following a battle with stage 4 prostate cancer, according to TMZ.

Shortly after the news was announced, Jennifer, who played Gunther’s love interest Rachel Green, shared a fitting post on her Instagram account thanking James for all the laughter they shared over the years.

The 52-year-old said: “Friends would not have been the same without you. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and to all of our lives. You will be so missed #JamesMichaelTaylor. [sic]”

Alongside her sweet words, Jennifer posted a popular scene of the pair from the sitcom as Gunther bid farewell to Rachel.

The scene saw Gunther tell Rachel he loved her as she prepared to leave New York – much to Ross’ (David Schwimmer) dismay.

She then ushered the famous words: “When I’m in a cafe having coffee or I see a man with hair brighter than the sun, I’ll think of you,” before giving him a kiss on the cheek.

She also posted an image of James from his days on the set.

Courteney Cox, who starred as Monica Geller in the show, also shared a similar post on her own Instagram.

Alongside the same image as Jennifer shared, the 57-year-old wrote: “The size of gratitude you brought into the room and showed every day on set is the size of the gratitude I hold for having known you. Rest In peace James.”

Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s (Matthew Perry) love interest Janice on the show shared a snap of the pair at the Friends Reunion earlier in the year.

She wrote alongside it: “I am thankful to have had the chance to know this kind and gentle man. In recent years James and I enjoyed working alongside one another doing PR for various Friends events and I’m very grateful for the time we spent together.
