Scots comedian Janey Godley has taken a swipe at MP Margaret Ferrier with one of her voice over sketches.
Usually Janey targets Nicola Sturgeon ‘s daily coronavirus speeches but after news broke last night that MP Margaret Ferrier had travelled to and from London while infected with the deadly virus, Ferrier became the latest person to feature in one of Godley’s comedy videos.
Speaking over a clip of Ferrier, Janey said: “Aye just aff the phone tae big Sandra there, hear the news is broke that ah’ve got the covid and it’s aw oor the tele and everything and wit did a dae? went right ahead and went tae Parliament and got a train back tae Scotland.
“Honest to God, it’s no as if a wisny f*****g telt, at the end of the day av made a grave mistake, and a mean… am the whip and I think I know wit will be getting the whip noo… wit a brass neck.”
She added: “A mean, it wisny even as if I was gon tae git my eyes tested… the polis huv been telt, everybody has been telt… so aye that’ll be me in lockdown, that’ll f*****g learn me.
“I suppose we should aw know that it shouldn’t be wan rule for wan and wan rule for the other. We are all in this together remember. Right Frank, get the door!”
And fans loved Janey’s new sketch, saying the comedian was brilliant.
One said: “Was waiting with bated breath for this. Knew you’d wipe the floor with her…..so not disappointed. F*****g brilliant as always.”
Another wrote: “Looking forward to seeing your take on Nicola’s reaction to this. She is gonna give it some wellie!”
While one added: “If we don’t laugh we would cry.”
Earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon called for MP Margaret Ferrier to quit after she admitted travelling back to Scotland after testing positive for covid-19.
She tweeted: “I’ve spoken to Margaret Ferrier and made clear my view that she should step down as an MP.
“I did so with a heavy heart – she is a friend & colleague – but her actions were dangerous & indefensible. I have no power to force an MP to resign but I hope she will do the right thing.”
Ferrier, the MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, shocked the public yesterday by releasing a statement admitting she had breached covid rules.
She travelled to London on Monday despite having taken a test and, after getting a positive result, travelled back to Scotland via train on Tuesday.
She was suspended by the SNP and is facing investigations by the police and an ethics watchdog.
Sturgeon’s quit call came after SNP MPs urged her to quit as an MP.
