Jamie Laing has bizarrely claimed if he was ever a victim of the ‘Strictly curse’ it would be like incest.
He made the startling comparison when questioned about the state of his relationship with girlfriend Sophie ‘Habbs’ Habboo.
The Made In Chelsea star explained that even after spending all hours of the day with his professional dancing partner he would never see them in a romantic way.
He branded the infamous curse unnatural saying it would be like ‘sleeping with a sibling’ and used 1980 film Blue Lagoon as a basis for his strange statement.
Jamie told the Daily Star : “Everyone talks about this ‘curse’. You spend eight hours a day, six days a week with this one person. And if you have ever seen the movie Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields she ends up sleeping with her brother.
“If you spend a lot of time with your sister you end up sleeping with her. That is the moral of that story. It is a weird moral.
“That is what I am going to say to anyone who asks me about it.
“But if the Strictly curse did happen my answer will be ‘Have you ever watched Blue Lagoon?’”
Blue Lagoon starred Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, who played cousins – not siblings – who are marooned on an island and end up falling in love.
As rumours swirled that Habbs had already ditched Jamie ahead of his stint on Strictly, she was forced to deny they’d already been struck by the curse.
A spokesperson for the pair said they were “very much together”.
Jamie is determined not to fall victim to the Strictly hex, which has already claimed stars like Stacey Dooley, who is in a relationship with her former dance partner Kevin Clifton.
There’s also been Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff, Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice, Louise and Jamie Redknapp and the infamous kiss gate between Katya Jones and Seann Walsh.
