Jamie Dornan’s dad has died aged 73 after being infected with Covid-19.
Jim Dornan, a renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist, died after a battle with the coronavirus.
The sad news broke on Monday.
Chair of Division of Clinical Psychology NI, Nichola Rooney confirmed the sad news on Twitter.
She wrote: “The great Prof Jim Dornan. One of a kind. His glass brimmed over.
“A true visionary. Early 90’s he saw the benefit that Clinical Psychology could bring to the women in RMJH & made it happen. My friend. RIP. Love to Samina, Liesa, Jess & Jamie.”
His actor son Jamie has yet to break his silence on social media to pay tribute.
Jim was a celebrated obstetrician and gynaecologist in the medical field.
He was devoted to the Belfast trust from 1986 until 2012.
During his career, he become a professor of Foetal Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast from 1995 to 2012.
Also, he was the senior vice-president of the Royal College of Gynaecologists from 2004 to 2006.
Previously, Jamie revealed he always turned to his dad for advice on his acting roles.
The only role he refused to help out with was when Jamie took on the part of a doctor in supernatural thriller The 9th Life of Louis Drax.
According to BBC America, he said: “My dad will always try to give me some tips or advice on every character I play whether it’s a serial killer or sexual dominant.
“This is the one job where I even asked him for some advice and he didn’t give it to me.”
Jim had landed a few roles in acting himself.
The father-of-three appeared in ITV drama Marcella starring Anna Friel.
Previously, Jim had played a policeman in The Fall where his son Jamie took on the haunting role of a serial killer.
