I MIGHT not have the spy skills of 007.
Yeah, OK. Or the looks.
But I’ve had some pretty good intelligence that this could be the next James Bond car.
Aston Martin is being as secretive as MI6 about it and won’t confirm anything. But a car codenamed 003 has got to make sense.
There was talk the next Vanquish would appear in Bond 25, but I’d stick my Jaffas on a laser beam and say it’s going to be this.
Here’s how I put two and two together. AM-RB 003 is a mid-engined hypercar being developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing.
Not only is it light switch-fast, full of F1 science, and cool, it will be strictly limited to 500 cars.
Daniel Craig drove a specially created DB10 in Spectre so it would be true to form to have another rare Aston this time round.
I can’t see 007 in a Vanquish — as wonderful as it is — when a Premier League footballer can have one a year or so later.
We’ll also see the legendary DB5 — below — return in Bond 25 and Jaguar Land Rover will continue playing along as the bad guys. It will provide the as-yet-unseen Defender as a villain car.
Excellent. I’ve got room to tell you a little bit more about 003.
When it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, it got more love than baby Archie. It’s effectively a diet Valkyrie featuring Aston’s first hybrid turbo V6 engine.
Aston says it will “surpass the performance of existing hypercar rivals”. Which can only mean it will trump the 800hp McLaren Senna — and that catapults from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds, all the way up to 208mph.
Expect 003 to cost £1million-plus.
Do be careful with it, Bond.
