Jake Quickenden defends giving his baby an Instagram saying he has 30,000 followers and will be an ‘athlete or a model’

JAKE Quickenden explained his reasons for giving his newborn son his own Instagram account.

The X Factor star, 32, wanted to use his own platform to help give his 13-week-old son Leo a boost, because he’s convinced he will go on to find fame himself.

The star’s child – whom he shares with stunning girlfriend Sophie Church – made his Instagram debut last month shortly after The Sun exclusively revealed he was born on February 26th.

“We made him an instagram. He has got nearly 30000 followers now,” Jake told Vicky Pattinson on her The Secret To podcast.

“People are like: ‘does he really need an instagram.’ I am like what an amazing gift to give him.

“We’ve got him a bit of a platform. He will have a few followers which is lovely.”

Jake added: “With all these memories of growing up, from a baby to one, two, three, four, five…He will see me and Soph getting married.

“I wish I could look at picture after picture of me growing up. I have got like 10.

“I just thought it was such a nice thing.”

Jake also explained they started the Instagram for Leo because, “he is going to be an athlete or a model or something”.

“If he wants to be anything. If he wants to do ballet, dance, acting… I can’t wait to support him in anything he wants to do.”

Jake has had a tough time on Instagram since Leo’s birth after trolls labelled the newborn “ugly”.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online he has told how he will now be the better person if such sick scenarios again rear their head.

Speaking of Leo’s presence on social media, Jake said: “I didn’t want to have to keep him a secret. He’s my son and I’m proud of him and I want to show the world how proud I am.

“Obviously the emotions I felt when he was trolled was anger and like surprise.

“I understand if someone doesn’t like me, I can be a bit annoying so I get that. But to troll a baby to try and get a reaction out of me, is a little bit low.

“But you have to think, these people might need the random act of kindness. These people are probably the ones that need it.

“So I’ve got to try and tone myself down and not argue back, it’s hard as a parent your first instinct is to protect your kid.

“It’s hard but you kind of ignore it now and move on and appreciate all the positive stuff.”

Jake went on to confess how some of his DMs were “horrendous.”

He confessed: “I did share quite a few and it makes me sad sometimes because I share it and then I’m sat feeling guilty that the person that said it might be getting trolled.

“And I don’t know if that’s because I’m an actually alright guy.

“The comments I tried to delete as quickly as I could so no one could see them. It’s one of those things and unfortunately the dark side of social media.”

The excited performer confessed he’s looking for the “perfect moment” to get down on one knee in front of his girlfriend of almost three years.
