Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is keen on joining Manchester City this summer, with Pep Guardiola determined to sign the England international.

Grealish, 25, was a target for Manchester United last summer but the midfielder ended up signing a new long-term deal at Villa Park after United refused to meet Villa’s £75m asking price.

The midfielder was keen on a move to Old Trafford and the no.7 shirt – now worn by Edinson Cavani – had even been lined up for Grealish.

Grealish’s stock has risen this season after another fine campaign with Villa, who finished in 11th after their form collapsed in the second half of the term.

Grealish will not angle to leave his boyhood club but the Athletic claims he would like to join Manchester City this summer and has a desire to work with Guardiola.

It comes just 12 months after Grealish had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford but City would be more prepared to meet Villa’s asking price and offer a greater guarantee of silverware.

It’s also claimed another United target – England skipper Harry Kane – would prefer a move to the Etihad over Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old has intimated he wants to leave Spurs and has pleaded with chairman Daniel Levy to listen to offers for him this summer.

However, Kane has three years left to run on his deal and Levy sees no reason to sale.

Should Kane attempt to force Levy’s hand, the Spurs chairman would demand around £150m for the stiker, which would make him the third most expensive player of all-time behind Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
