After two friendlies against Austria and Romania, fans and pundits are not convinced they have yet seen all that the England Euro 2020 squad has to offer.
For many, it is the opening game against Croatia on June 13 that is Southgate’s first real opportunity to play, what could be, his best starting XI.
Who makes your starting XI? Want to know who the pundits would pick? Ask Andy a question in the comments here.
So far, there seems to be no confirmed starters as the friendlies saw a variety of line ups given a try.
The midfield options have given Southgate a real headache, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Mason Mount and Declan Rice to choose from.
Defensively, there are some big calls to be made too with Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell battling out for a coveted starting spot.
The England manager’s main job now is to put what he has seen on the training pitch into action, playing a team that gels well together well against a well-oiled Croatia side.
So, do you have any big selection questions? Want to know if Raheem Sterling will get a start? Who is England’s optimum starting XI?
