Emile Smith Rowe has thanked Lauren after the ex-Arsenal defender passed on some words of advice and says it makes him ‘really happy’ to hear from a former player he ‘looks up to’ so much.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, a product of Arsenal’s academy, has been key to the club’s mini resurgence over the winter period, racking up three assists and a goal in his last six games.

The Gunners are yet to lose a Premier League match in which Smith Rowe has featured this season and Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to miss the youngster’s energy and creativity in attack as their defence of the FA Cup was brought to an end by Southampton on Saturday.

Reaching out to Smith Rowe with some advice, former Arsenal full-back Lauren told Stadium Astro: ‘Focus on tomorrow with the same mentality and the same attitude,’

‘Because you have the talent, you have the intelligence to understand the game and you have the Arsenal way.

‘So the fact that you understand the game, you have that kind of intelligence, it’s now onto maintaining and being in a consistent way, week-in, week-out.

‘Keep going without any fear because you’ve got talent and keep doing it in a consistent way and then you could be a big, big star for Arsenal.’

Shown Lauren’s advice by Stadium Astro’s Adam Carruthers, Smith Rowe said: ‘It makes me really happy, getting good advice from a player like him.

‘He’s someone we all look up to so it makes me really happy to be at this club.’

Smith Rowe, who has been dubbed the ‘Croydon De Bruyne’ by team-mates and fans, said he had no choice but to listen to Arteta given how closely the Spaniard worked with Manchester City’s talisman during his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

‘I feel like he’s [Arteta] helped me with my awareness, my positioning and where to be before. receiving the ball. I feel like in that aspect he’s helped me so much,’ Smith Rowe added.

‘He’s obviously worked with Kevin De Bruyne so when I’m getting advice from the manager who knows so much, I can’t say no.

‘I’m obviously grateful for what he’s telling me and how he’s helping me.’

The England Under-20 international continued: ‘It’s been crazy, playing for the club that I’ve dreamt of playing for all my life, I can’t really explain how much it means to me.

‘I’m really happy to be playing at the moment.’
