Bauchi Oct,21 2020 The Bauchi state chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) has rejected the just concluded councils polls in the state, calling on the State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) to conduct a fresh elections .

The committee made the demand through its chairman, Alhaji Usman Isa, during a press conference in Bauchi on Wednesday .

It said all the seats of the elected officials should be declared vacant considering the irregularities that characterized the elections.

It observed that neither Collation nor Returning Officers were seen at the designated electoral wards and the local government collation centres, adding that the winners of the elections were announced through social media.

IPAC described the local government elections that took place in the state as an irony of democracy because leaders were elected through selection and nomination, stressing that the electoral commission should refund the monies spent by other contestants.

IPAC also called for the immediate dissolution of the board of the state electoral commission and appoint tested technocrats to conduct fresh elections that would be free and fair.

Naija247news recalls that BASIEC conducted council polls on Saturday, in which the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the state cleared all the 20 Chairmanship and 323 Councillorship seats.
