Instagram appears to be suffering from a sudden outage that means users can’t view Stories or Reels on the app.

Reports began to flood DownDetector at around 1.40pm on Thursday, June 23 as UK users started experiencing problems.

According to the site, 75% of reports cite problems with the app while 14% of issues are on the feed and 11% on the website.

London appears to be the most affected, but users in Edinburgh are also experiencing issues.

Reels, short TikTok-style videos within Instagram, don’t appear to be loading for some people.

Others confirmed on Twitter they couldn’t view the Stories feature.

‘Instagram is down right now, a lot of people can’t view their own stories!’ one user wrote in response to a query.

The problems with Instagram come in a week full of technological dropped balls. On Tuesday, problems with Cloudflare and Outlook hit people working from home during the rail strikes.

And if that wasn’t enough, Zoom also suffered a frustrating outage.

Technology, eh?

Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has not yet commented on the issue.
