If you’re getting married you need to see these 17 beautiful wedding rings that are anything but boring

In a year when the world of weddings was turned upside down, it’s only natural the traditional wedding ring would get a teensy little makeover too.

From the gowns we wear – or not (because trouser suits, high street brands and mini-lengths are all in)… to how we are proposing (hello, Zoom engagements!)… who we’re celebrating with (welcome the ceremini)… and how we’re doing it (botanical themes… Friday nuptials…) the most traditional element of the ceremony – the wedding ring – remains a constant. (Hey, we’ll take any excuse to add an accessory.) But just because it’s traditional, doesn’t mean it has to look *old-fashioned*.

The days when plain yellow gold bands – or platinum ones – were the only option are a distant memory. Brides can now have as much fun shopping for their wedding ring as their engagement ring. Sprinkle on as many diamonds as you want or choose other precious gems instead. Go for twisted, pinched or hammered finishes. Mix up your metals. There are so many incredible wedding rings to choose from, look beyond the trends and choose something you love just as much as the person you’re marrying. Overstatement? We think not…

Some of our favourite wedding rings can be bought online instead of IRL so once you’ve worked out the ring you want, make sure you measure your finger properly – read our guide for advice. There’s also nothing in the new bridal rulebook that says your wedding ring has to be basic. Yes, you need to think about how it sits with your engagement ring but that’s it! We’ve fallen for Pacharee’s gold plated ring inlaid with tiny freshwater pearls and adore ECOne’s hammered yellow gold band which is made from recycled gold and has sparkle without being blinging. If rose gold is your favourite finish, Chopard’s ice cube ring is a fantastic option while Cartier’s iconic trinity ring – in white, rose and yellow gold – will avoid any regrets over which metal you choose.

Now you just have to pick the lingerie you’re going to wear, your shoes and… yes, back to the dress!
