Ian Wright has named his ideal England starting XI to take on Germany in Tuesday’s crunch last-16 clash at Euro 2020.

The Three Lions topped Group D with relative ease after earning two wins and a draw, and now turn their attentions to a meeting with Joachim Low’s side at Wembley.

There has been much debate over whether Gareth Southgate should switch to a back three to match up the Germans, who play Robin Gosens and Joshua Kimmich as their wing-backs.

But former Arsenal and England striker Wright would stick with the back four in front of Jordan Pickford, but bring back Mason Mount and Phil Foden for Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka.

Grealish and Saka both excelled in the final group stage game against Czech Republic as Mount had to self-isolate for 10 days and Foden was left out to protect him from a potential suspension.

Wright wants to see the the Three Lions start on the front foot, rather than cautiously sitting back.

‘For me, I’d go with the 4-3-3 and try to force ourselves on Germany,’ Wright told ITV.

‘I’d bring Mount in for Grealish… I’d play Foden, Kane and Sterling up front.

‘I’d play Rice, Phillips and Mount [in midfield].

‘And then the back four – Shaw, Maguire, Stones and Walker.’

‘I want us to play with those wingers and keep them pinned back,’ he added.

‘If we can keep Kimmich and Gosens out of it and force our game on them.

‘We’ve got a better chance of beating them rather than trying to nullify Germany.’
