Ruben Loftus-Cheek has singled out Eden Hazard as a player that inspired him during his time in the Chelsea academy.

Loftus-Cheek joined the academy at the age of eight, where he spent 10 years before finally making it into the first-team in 2014.

Since then the 25-year-old has made 115 Premier League appearances, a tally which includes games whilst on loan at fellow top flight clubs Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Meanwhile, Hazard arrived at Stamford Bridge from French club Lille back In 2012 as one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe, with his ability to beat a player arguably his most recognisable trait.

And Loftus-Cheek has now revealed that he looked up to the Belgium international, even before the Englishman broke into the first-team picture.

‘It was unbelievable watching him first hand, in his prime just the way he played was so effortless,’ he said.

When asked whether he inspired him, Loftus Cheek replied: ‘Yea of course.’

‘I remember when he first came, maybe he was 21 or something like that. I remember watching in the stands and sitting quite close to the bench and watching him take players on and the crowd going nuts, and I thought ‘I wanna feel like that’.

‘I’ve driven past people ever since I was young, but to do it now in front of 40,000 fans at Stamford Bridge that start cheering when you go past someone, it’s what dreams of made up isn’t it.’
