Hugh Sheridan involved in 'glassing attack' outside Perth theatre

Hugh Sheridan’s younger brother Zachary and musical castmate Matthew Manahan have allegedly been attacked in a glassing incident.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Hugh claimed the pair were attacked on Friday night while leaving a Perth theatre, where Hugh and Matthew are both performing in the musical Hair.

Sharing a photo of himself and Matthew, the 34-year-old wrote: ‘Tonight this kind soul pictured here with me was attacked for no reason, he was glassed in the street.’

He continued: ‘Minutes later my beautiful brother was attacked by the same person just after leaving the theatre with me.

‘I’d never seen someone so aggressive and so fast, he had no motive and chose the sweetest people I know to hurt.

‘Matt is still in hospital and my understanding is he’s still awaiting a cat scan.’

Hugh also said that, ‘if my brother wasn’t there I would’ve been completely caught unaware and both Matt and myself would be in hospital.’

Hugh’s brother Zachary is a budding theatre star, having won the 2018 Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award for The Cockburn Incident.

Zach, 24, told The Advertiser in February this year, that he’s grateful to have family who are so supportive of the arts.

‘Hugh’s always been very supportive,’ he said of his older brother.

‘He went to drama school immediately after finishing high school and so probably his best advice, so far, was to wait a few years before embarking on that journey.’
