The 10-hour trial of FIFA 21 has proven so popular that it’s caused EA Play to crash but there is a way round the problem on both consoles.

Not that there was ever any doubt, but FIFA 21 looks set to be absolutely massive, as the promise of a 10-hour trial manages to break EA Play.

Most fans have found that trying to access the EA Play app causes it to crash and show an error message, with no obvious way round the problem.

Clearly the thirst for new FIFA is real as this doesn’t even have anything to do with the fact that EA Play (previously known as EA Access) will become a part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as that doesn’t start till 10 November.

Technically you don’t need the EA Play app to start the download, so instead look for the standard edition of FIFA 21 in the PlayStation Store on your console.

You should then see a Download Trial button, so select that and the game will start downloading without ever needing to open the app.

The workaround for the Xbox is just as simple, as all you have to do is use the link on the Microsoft Store. Click the free trial button on the top right but first make sure you have remote access enabled on your console or it won’t work.

If you’re not sure how to do that then this page on the Microsoft help website should make things clear.
