As ABBA prepare to beam a brand new virtual tour – ABBA Voyage – we uncover where the ‘Waterloo’ stars are now
ABBA remains one of the biggest bands in the world, decades after they burst onto radio waves in 1972.
The Swedish band produced and performed music together, winning the Eurovision song contest just two years after their formation with their global hit, Waterloo.
Starting their careers in their early twenties they’ve come a long successful way, selling over 380 billion singles and albums worldwide.
Having met during their twenties the band soon became close as Benny and Anni-Frid married in 1978, and Björn and Agnetha married in 1971.
Unfortunately, the couples ended up divorcing after only a couple of years, and in 1982 the band decided to split, venturing their separate ways after a decade of fame.
But where are the ABBA members today, and how old are they now?
Agnetha Fältskog Fältskog
Born on April 5, 1950, Agnetha is now 71-years-old and has two children — Linda and Peter Ulvaeus — who she had with her ex-husband and band member Björn.
After the band split, Agnetha became a solo artist producing three hit albums and continuing her successful singing career.
However, she later stepped away from the limelight following two failed marriages, a traumatic car accident in 1983, her mum’s suicide in 1994, and a series of stalking episodes.
Many years later in 2013, she came back into the public eye to perform her first live performance in 25 years with Gary Barlow for BBC’s Children in Need.
In 2016 a biography was released called ‘Agnetha Fältskog — The Girl With The Golden Hair’.
The singer has since enjoyed a quiet lifestyle living on a farm in Stockholm.
Born on April 25, 1945, Björn is now 76 years old and has kept his career with ABBA alongside fellow member Benny.
He has also produced some solo work.
The now musical director has four children, Linda and Peter Ulvaeus with ex-wife and bandmate Agnetha — and Anna and Emma Ulvaeus with wife, Lena Kallersjö.
Both Björn and Benny helped create the musicals Chess and the hugely popular Mamma Mia! Which is based on ABBA songs.
After his lifetime of work, Björn was appointed president of CISAC in 2020.
He is reportedly worth a whopping £90 million.
Born on December 16, 1946, Benny is now 74-years-old and has continued a busy, successful career alongside ABBA member Björn.
He has three children, Peter and Heléne Grönvall who he had with his partner Christina Grönvall, before marrying Anni-Frid until 1981.
He later remarried to Mona Nörklit and they had a son called Ludvig who has formed his own band, following in his father’s footsteps.
Reportedly the richest of the group and worth £100 million, Benny has continued a successful career with Björn, writing regular music and creating musicals alongside his solo career.
The ABBA pair have also previously won the Ivor Novello Award in 2008 and Benny has released solo compositions in recent years.
Female singer Anni-Frid is now 75-years-old and has two children, Hans and Ann Lise-Lotte Fredriksson with ex-husband Ragnar Fredriksson.
Anni-Frid and Ragnar divorced in 1970 and she later married former band member, Benny in 1978, however the pair officially divorced in 1981, a year before the band split.
Continuing a solo career after the break up of the group, Anni-Frid sold more than a 1.5million copies of her first album ‘Something’s going on’.
In 1992, Anni-Frid married Prince Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss von Plauen who sadly died of lymphoma in 1999 at the age of 49.
A year later, Anni-Frid’s daughter, Lise-Lotte tragically died in a car crash.
The former singer has since kept a low profile, appearing for the last time in 2004 when she joined former band members Benny and Bjorn at London’s fifth-anniversary performance of Mamma Mia! The musical.
She now shares a home with her British partner Henry Smith 5th Viscount Hambleden in Switzerland.
