Horizon Forbidden West PS4 screenshots leak and they look great

Since we don’t want to get sued these are just regular PS5 screenshots (pic: Sony)

It seems the PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West may already be in the hands of pirates but the good news is it looks amazing.

So far there’s only been three full price PlayStation 5 exclusives from Sony – Demon’s Souls, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – with everything else also being released on the PlayStation 4.

That situation isn’t necessarily going to change in 2022, as Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, and God Of War Ragnarök are also cross-gen. Sony has been very coy about showing the PlayStation 4 version of Horizon Forbidden West, but judging by newly leaked images there’s no cause for concern.

Of course, predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn also looked amazing, so that’s no surprise, but what is peculiar is where exactly these images have come from.

The photos first appeared on Reddit, with no description other than that they’ve been ‘leaked’ and are ‘jailbreak’ related, i.e. overcoming the security on a console or other device.

Since pirated versions of the game don’t seem to be in circulation at the moment the situation is very reminiscent of the leak for The Last Of Us Part 2 a few weeks before its release, which spoiled the entire story.

At the time this was thought to be the work of a disgruntled employee, but it later turned out to be hackers that got access to Naughty Dog’s servers and an almost complete version of the final game.

Horizon Forbidden West has nothing to do with Naughty Dog but if the security flaw was something common to all Sony servers then… you can bet someone in IT is in deep trouble right about now.

That said, there have been no Horizon Forbidden West story leaks so far, just the photos, but given the quality there seems little question that they’re real – and that Horizon Forbidden West is definitely worth looking forward to on both formats.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PlayStation 4 and 5 on February 18.
