Eight months pregnant Shelly Regev was flying back to her native Israel with her little boy, leaving Ofir in Edinburgh.
But the model mum faced difficulties after her plane was turned back at the eleventh hour just as it was about to land in Israel’s Tel Aviv airport.
Israel is under a massive bombardment of hundreds of rockets emanating from the Gaza Strip.
The rocket fire on central Israel briefly shut down Ben Gurion Airport.
A spokesperson for the Israel Airports Authority said that take-offs and landings were temporarily stopped “to allow for the country’s skies to be defended”.
Writing on Instagram, Shelly explained: “Our flight yesterday from Frankfurt to Israel was about to land but turned back to Germany due to massive rocket attacks in Tel Aviv area.”
“We are currently still in Germany with the hope to arrive on another flight tomorrow morning.
My phone is full of messages but we are still getting organised and checking all things will be ready for tomorrow – and obviously are very tired and exhausted from this situation.”
Shelly thanked friends and relatives for sending her messages of support.
She said: “Thanks to everyone for all your messages and concern. Hoping for quieter and better days.”
She also thanked her husband Ofir for doing his best to help her out from a distance.
She said: “And thankyou my love for all the support and energy you give us in this craziest situation. Number one husband and father Ofir Marciano. We miss you already.”
