Thank you for getting involved.

Reader John French will be very pleased this morning, after winning a 2021 Silverstone season pass for two, including F1 and Moto GP tickets. Everyone who voted was entered into a free draw for this cracking prize.

Rising F1 star Lando Norris is our Motoring Personality of the Year and we’re also handing out awards for our favourite van, crossover, best-value motor, luxury car, best design and best British-built car.

It wasn’t easy. Nothing to do with you-know-what but because there’s no such thing as a bad new car these days. But this lot are the crème de la crème.

If you’re in the market for a new car and looking for inspiration, hopefully today’s column will help.

CAR OF THE YEAR: VAUXHALL CORSA-E

Guilt-free, cheap to run, real-world range to suit most people, and just as much fun - it has to be the pure-electric Corsa-e

The new Corsa is in a different league from the old one – like Taste The Difference over basic. The pure-electric Corsa-e goes further still. Guilt-free, cheap to run, real-world range to suit most people, and just as much fun. Official range: 209 miles. Price: £27,665. Finance from £299 a month.

JEREMY CLARKSON’S PEOPLE’S CAR OF THE YEAR

MINI GP – JEREMY is up a mountain somewhere filming The Grand Tour but he said of the 306hp Mini GP: “It’s far too powerful, far too loud, but one of the best cars I’ve driven all year.”

An excellent choice.

It’s a proper livewire that only knows full attack. Price: £35k.

AND THE OTHER OSCARS GO TO…

CROSSOVER: FORD PUMA

Very practical, with a clever Megabox boot

Very practical, with a clever Megabox boot

This has the same peachy chassis as a Fiesta, so it follows that this is the best handling crossover. It is also very practical, with a clever Megabox boot with a plughole in it – we carried fish in the boot – and zip-off washable seats. It’s also a hybrid. Prices from £21,640.

FAMILY: RANGE ROVER EVOQUE

Also available as a mild hybrid

Also available as a mild hybrid

A yummy-mummy’s fashion statement and more capable off-road than it ever needs to be. You voted for it  . . . but avoid the base front-wheel-drive model. All the rest are 4WD autos and awesome. Also available as a mild hybrid. Prices from £36k.

BEST VALUE: VW UP! GTI

The up! GTI is basically a four-seat go-kart for only £16,140

I know it’s more expensive than, say, a Dacia Sandero or a Hyundai i10, but this is a lot of car for not a lot of money. The up! GTI is basically a four-seat go-kart that growls like a baby Porsche and wants to be pinned everywhere. All the classic GTI trimmings. Yours for £16,140.

LUXURY: BENTLEY FLYING SPUR

You just need £168k for a Bentley Flying Spur

Whoever said, “You can’t have it all” was wrong. You just need £168k for a Bentley Flying Spur. Jewellery-box interior with the acceleration of a SpaceX rocket. Fab fusion of cutting-edge electronics and artisan craftsmanship. Even a certain Mr J. Clarkson has ordered one.

BRITISH-BUILT: MINI ELECTRIC

The Mini Electric is expected to make up a third of three-door hatches next year

The Mini Electric is expected to make up a third of three-door hatches next year

The pure-electric Mini is built on the same production line as the petrol Mini in Oxford. That’s a lot harder than it sounds. Demand is strong, with 11,000 built already in a stop-start year, and Mini Electric is expected to make up a third of three-door hatches next year. Prices from £24,900.

VAN: VW CADDY

Loads of tech, clever voice controls and a slightly cleaner engine

Loads of tech, clever voice controls and a slightly cleaner engine

It’s a Golf 8 wearing the overalls of a van, which makes the VW Caddy the hottest in the business. Our van expert George Barrow said: “Loads of tech, clever voice controls and a slightly cleaner engine, all packaged in an attractive new body and interior. It’s a winner at every turn.”

LEGEND AWARD: FORD FIESTA ST

The Fiesta ST pipped the likes of BMW 3 Series, VW Golf and Mazda MX-5

The Fiesta ST pipped the likes of BMW 3 Series, VW Golf and Mazda MX-5

Two years ago I said the Fiesta ST was the best car, pound for pound, on the planet. Nothing has changed. And you agree, picking it from a tough shortlist of icons in production for 30 years or more. It pipped the likes of BMW 3 Series, VW Golf and Mazda MX-5. Prices from £22,275.

BEST DESIGN: ASTON MARTIN DBX

The DBX looks sensational, like a Vantage left in a growbag overnight

Making an SUV look good is tough. Ask Rolls. Ask Bentley. But Aston has nailed it first time. The DBX looks sensational, like a Vantage left in a growbag overnight. This car is crucial to the future of the company – built in Wales in a new factory – but I’m not too concerned. Just. Look. At. It.

MOTORING PERSONALITY: LANDO NORRIS

Lando is a special talent on-track but is also doing a great job connecting with young fans
