Harry Redknapp names one thing that won't happen in Champions League final

All eyes are on the Champions League final on Saturday night – and ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is expecting goals.

Redknapp’s former club take on Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid in a huge game to wrap up the 2018/19 campaign.

The legendary manager admits it is impossible to call the outcome between two “evenly matched” teams who both pulled off miraculous comebacks at the semi-final stage.

Redknapp admits he would not be surprised to see extra-time needed to separate the Premier League rivals and decide who lifts the iconic trophy.

But with an array of attacking talent on display, he believes a 0-0 draw is the only scoreline that can be ruled out.

Liverpool’s powerful front three are set to play a big part in Madrid

Redknapp, speaking as the new brand ambassador for BetVictor’s #HeyHarry campaign, said: “It’s a difficult one to call, it really is such a tight game. The two teams are so evenly matched.

“Both teams are so potent going forward, you certainly couldn’t see a 0-0 draw that’s for sure.

“You’d be very surprised if there’s not goals in the game.

“Both forward lines are so good. I don’t know how Tottenham are going to line-up, if Kane plays.

“Their front three could be amazing, and the Liverpool front three are amazing.

“It’s difficult to pick a winner. Extra time wouldn’t even surprise me.”

Liverpool needed a last-gasp winner to beat Spurs at Anfield in the latter stages of the campaign as they kept their Premier League title bid alive.

Redknapp admits his recollections of that game do little to sway him either way when predicting the outcome of their rematch in the Spanish capital.

He added: “I saw the game at Liverpool late in the season, and Liverpool won 2-1 with that late goal.

“Tottenham could’ve equalised in the last minute, there was nothing between the two teams.

“First half, Liverpool dominated in spells, second half Tottenham got on top.

“When they play each other again in the final it’s wide open, it really is.”
