Harry Kane has made Manchester City his first-choice destination this summer despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid, according to reports.

The 27-year-old has told Spurs that he wants to leave at the end of the season in order to boost his chances of winning major trophies at club level.

However, Spurs are in a strong negotiating position as the England captain will still have three years remaining on his current contract this summer.

Kane’s potential availability has alerted several clubs across Europe, but according to talkSPORT, the striker favours a move to City ahead of any other club.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reports that Kane was keen to join City last summer but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to grant him a switch to Pep Guardiola’s side.

It’s understood that Kane has asked his England teammates who play for City about living in the area and there is the belief among the players that the Spurs striker will join the newly crowned Premier League champions.

City, meanwhile, are in the market for a new striker with Sergio Aguero set to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The Athletic also reports that Kane would be reluctant to join Chelsea given their long-standing rivalry with Spurs.

When asked if Kane has asked to leave Spurs, the club’s interim boss Ryan Mason said on Tuesday: ‘No, not that I’m aware of.

‘All of my conversations with Harry have been about the game. All these conversations, I am not so sure. I don’t know.

‘I speak to Harry pretty much every day. He’s excited along with me about [the game against Aston Villa].

‘Our only discussions have been about the game tomorrow. We’re looking forward to tomorrow.

‘He starts tomorrow because he is our best striker and he is one of the best strikers in the world.

‘I have been consistent, I am here for the next two games and that is my main focus in preparing a football team and winning a game of football. Hopefully we can do that and Harry can get on the scoresheet.

‘They’ll love seeing him play. He loves the club, he’s been here from a very young age, come through the system. I’m sure the fans are excited to see Harry play.’
