Harry Kane took his Tottenham tally to an incredible 200 goals on Thursday night in the Europa League, reaching the milestone quicker than Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney or Alan Shearer during their most memorable spells at clubs.

Kane opened the scoring in Spurs’ 3-1 victory over Ludogorets, his 12th goal this season already, in just 13 games.

Remarkably, Kane has also provided 10 assists this season, setting up Tottenham’s second for Lucas Moura, in a wonderfully creative spell for the England captain.

His 200th goal for Tottenham came in his 300th game for the club, which is a better strike rate than Premier League legends Henry, Rooney and Shearer managed.

Henry scored 228 goals for Arsenal, but took 321 games to do so.

Shearer netted his 200th goal for Newcastle in his 385th game, while Rooney took 406 games to make it to the landmark for Manchester United.

Spurs legends were quick to congratulate the prolific striker, with Osvaldo Ardiles tweeting: ‘Big congratulations @HKane. What a record. What a goal-scorer. What a player. Now for the next 200!!! COYS.’

Gary Lineker added: ‘What an achievement for @HKane scoring his 200th goal for @SpursOfficial in his 300th game. Well played.’

‘Delighted with that, of course, delighted with the three points first and foremost,’ Kane said after the match in Bulgaria.

‘Probably could have scored a couple more in that 45 minutes but that’s the way it goes.

‘A great milestone to reach and hopefully a few more to come.’

Kane is third on the all-time list for Spurs, behind Jimmy Greaves on 266 and Bobby Smith on 208, but the current hitman insists he is not thinking about overtaking either man.

‘It’s not on my mind, these are all great things, it’s hard to take them in while you’re playing, once I finish playing I’ll take it all in.’
