Hailey Bieber says homeschooling caused her to 'miss out' on normal interactions with boys


Hailey Bieber says being homeschooled for a majority of her formidable years caused her to ‘miss out’ on normal interactions with boys. 

The 24-year-old model — who is now married to Justin Bieber — joked that although she’s doing ‘fine now’ not being at a normal co-ed high school limited her as a teen. 

Hailey spoke to TikTok personality Dixie D’Amelio on her YouTube show The Early Late Night Show about her unconventional childhood, adding that though she did socialize by way of dance she ‘missed out on interacting with boys.’

Revealing that she only attended real school for parts of fifth, sixth, and seventh grade, she said that she felt a bit hindered by her situation but it was her choice. 

‘My parents either said, “You go to Christian school or you homeschool.” There was really no choice in between. 

‘They wouldn’t let me go to public school. I actually wanted to go to a performing arts school in New York City, and they didn’t want me to do that either. So I just chose to stay home,’ she revealed. 

Hailey did make friends by way of dance as she took ballet everyday for 12 years which gave her a semblance of normalcy.

Choices: Hailey shared that she was given a choice between going to Christian school or being homeschooled and chose the latter

‘All of my socializing and my friends and interactions for the most part were there, so I don’t feel like I really missed out,’ she told Dixie.

Despite not feeling ‘socially awkward in any way,’ on account of her dance friends, the model did note that not attending a normal high school made her relationship with boys a bit harder. 

‘Maybe more with like, boys, like I missed out on interacting with boys. I think I’m OK now, but it wasn’t like, you know, when you’re in high school, it’s boys and girls — it’s a different environment,’ she shared.

Now happily married to arguably the biggest pop star in the world she laughed ‘I’m fine now.’ 

She chose to save herself for marriage and tied the knot with the Canadian born singer legally in 2018 at a Manhattan courthouse. 

The pair then threw a star studded wedding the following September where she stunned in a custom Off-White Virgil Abloh dress.

The daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin opened up about being ‘insanely young’ when they married at age 21 in conversation with Elle.  

‘I mean, I was married when I was 21, two months before I turned 22, which is insanely young. And sounds almost ridiculous when you say it out loud…[but] We have both lived enough life to know that’s what we wanted,’ she shared. 

Hailey continued, ‘We always knew that we were aligned on what we wanted in our future. We had talked about wanting to be married young and having a family young and building a life. Even before we knew we wanted to be with each other.’
