Grammys 2021: Megan Thee Stallion is left speechless as she celebrates first win for Savage

Megan Thee Stallion was left uncharacteristically lost for words after scooping her first ever Grammy award. 

The singer was honoured with one of the coveted awards for best rap performance for Savage featuring Beyonce at the 63rd Grammy awards. 

Appearing via video link to accept her award, Megan was left open-mouthed, screaming until she could get the words together to give an acceptance speech.

Megan said: ‘Ok, ummm… Oh my god. God is the first person I wanrt to thank, my grandma for not making me stop music to finish school. Thank you mama.’

The 26-year-old took to Twitter to simply tell her followers: ‘AHHHHHHHJHGJDKNBOOM’, as she was left speechless by the win. 

Her friend and collaborator on the smash hit WAP, Cardi B, also took to social media to congratulate her, writing: ‘Congrats @theestallion.You deserve it !’

Megan responded: ‘Thank you bardi, I can’t wait for everyone to see us kill it Tonight.’

Savage’s win was announced as part of the pre-ceremony, in which most of the categories were awarded ahead of the main show which takes place later in the evening. 

Among the other winners announced in the pre-ceremony were Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, who won best pop duo/group performance for Rain On Me, beating the likes of BTS, Taylor Swift and Bon Iver, and Justin Bieber and Quavo. 

Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, also became one of the youngest Grammy winners at just nine years old after her mother’s song Brown Skin Girl, on which she features, won the award for best music video. 

Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell were also among the early winners for their James Bond theme song, No Time To Die, which was named best song written for visual media ahead of the release of the upcoming movie, which has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
