GLAMOUR Tries: We tried Fanola's viral No Yellow Foam Conditioner for blonde hair – is it worth the hype?

There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Enter GLAMOUR Tries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from FOREO’s UFO 2 Smart Mask Treatment (an LED face mask with a difference) to Toni&Guy’s Hello Day! Secret Volumising Crimper and KVD Beauty’s Good Apple Skin Perfecting Foundation Balm. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Social Media Director Chloe Laws tested out Fanola’s No Yellow Foam Conditioner – a product which went viral on Instagram and that promises to banish unwanted yellow tones from blonde hair.

“Fanola’s No Yellow Foam is meant to be really conditioning so hopefully it’ll transform my hair and also make it a little bit more ashy,” says Chloe. “I saw it on TikTok and I love foam so I immediately wanted to try it.”

Chloe begins by showering and getting her hair wet, preparing it for the product. “I’ve shampooed my hair and I’m now going to go in with the Incredible Foam Conditioner. It says to shake it well before applying and then leave it on for between three and five minutes.”

After applying a generous amount, Chloe works the purple-hued foam into her hair making sure to coat every strand.

“I just washed it out and let it air dry, so this is it without any styling products or heat on it. I definitely think the colour is ashier, especially at the front. I wouldn’t say it was super conditioning, but it is really hot out so that could be the humidity causing some frizz.”

“Overall I really loved it! I think it was good fun and very satisfying, it probably wasn’t any messier than your standard purple shampoo either. I’ll definitely be using it again!”
