There’s no better passtime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.
Enter GLAMOUR Tries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.
Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from FOREO’s UFO 2 Smart Mask Treatment (an LED face mask with a difference) to Toni&Guy’s Hello Day! Secret Volumising Crimper and KVD Beauty’s Good Apple Skin Perfecting Foundation Balm. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.
Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? You can shop all of the products seen on GLAMOUR tries in previous weeks down below. Race ya?
On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Social Media Director Chloe Laws tested out the MimiLuzon 24K Pure Gold Eye Treatment, an under-eye mask with a long list of benefits, ranging from banishing dark circles, reducing dryness, wrinkles, and puffiness as well as moisturising and softening the delicate under-eye area. Need to fake eight hours of sleep for that all-important morning meeting? No problem, these gold leaf patches promise to leave skin glowing and feeling revitalised. But did it live up to the hype?
“The instructions are to cleanse, have a dry face, then apply the corrective anti-wrinkle mask under the eyes, massage in, then put the two gold leaves under the eye.” You do have to be very careful placing them onto skin, explains Chloe. “They’re so dainty and gentle.”
First take? “It was a mess, a complete disaster.” But, once having tried a different method, Chloe found more success when using the silk paper the gold leaves are placed on, as a template and pressing it onto the skin, without touching the leaf. Once on, wait for 10 minutes, then the next step is to wet your fingers and massage the mask using gentle, circular motions.
“I’m determined to get this step right,” Chloe said, as the gold leaf began to disappear into her skin. Once finished, she said, “I definitely feel glowy, I feel like I’ve got a shimmer, my skin feels better and my under eye feels brighter.”
