Germany vs Hungary Euro 2020 kick-off time, TV channel and live stream info

A crunch game in the Euro 2020 group of death will see out the first stage of the tournament, with both Germany and Hungary still capable of qualifying for the knockout phase with a victory.

Germany started the tournament off poorly, with a 1-0 defeat to France thanks to a Mats Hummels own goal before bouncing back with a hugely impressive performance to come from behind and defeat Portugal 4-2 in Munich.

Hungary on the other hand were well beaten on the opening day by Portugal, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice in a 3-0 defeat before turning in a top performance to earn the shock of the tournament so far with a 1-1 draw against France.

Joachim Low’s side currently sit second in the group on head-to-head on three points, while Marco Rossi’s side have the solitary one point, however, both teams are still able to qualify should the result go their way.

A win for Hungary would likely see them progress as one of the top four third-placed teams in the tournament with four points, which could see Germany crash out of the competition depending on Portugal’s result against France.

A draw on the night would mean Hungary are out of the competition, while a German win could see them win the group, again depending on the result in the other group game.

Germany have some fitness issues in their squad currently, with Thomas Muller ruled out with a knee injury while Ilkay Gundogan, Hummels and Lukas Klostermann all missed training on Monday.

Leon Goretzka could be handed a start after making a substitute appearance against Portugal, while Timo Werner and Leroy Sane are also options in attack.

Adam Szalai came off with a head injury for Hungary in their last game but they’re hopeful that he will have no lasting effects and be available, allowing Rossi to name an unchanged team.

What has been said?

Low’s response to the win over Portugal was obviously positive and he will be hoping to keep that level of performance heading into this game.

Speaking to UEFA.com, Low said: “We had great pace and managed to move the ball around well against Portugal. The next match will be more difficult if Hungary defend with eight or nine players and try to hit on the counter. They have shown how dangerous they can be.”

Hungary’s boss is well aware that the team are in need of an unlikely victory and is hopeful of using the experience to galvanise his squad.

“Since we’re here at the funfair, we also want to play; we want to perform well, but we must also keep our feet on the ground,” Rossi said. “We’re hoping to bring our ‘A’ game with us to Munich.”
