Gary Neville has been impressed by Italy’s fast start to Euro 2020 but is not sure they have been adequately tested.

Under the stewardship of former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, Italy have won both their opening games 3-0 against Turkey and Switzerland.

They have made light work of Group A and are guaranteed to progress to the last-16. Italy will finish as group leaders if they avoid defeat to Wales.

While Neville has liked what he’s seen from the Italians, he is concerned they haven’t faced a serious test yet – something that may catch them short in the knockout stages.

‘The biggest problem for Italy could be that they’re not going to be tested,’ Neville told ITV.

‘I mean maybe that game against Wales, you could argue because they’re through that they might play a weakened team, but they might actually want to play their best team, because the two games they’ve had so far, haven’t been a test for them.

‘You look at Switzerland there, they’re not getting out, walking out of the box, the ball goes back, it’s embarrassing.

‘Show some urgency, get out, close the space. I have to say, what Italy do really well, they make good runs…

‘But they were so superior tonight, they obviously deserved to win.’
