Gary Lineker in total disagreement with Gary Neville over Ralf Rangnick Man Utd claim

Gary Lineker reckons Gary Neville is completely wrong to claim incoming Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick had a say on the starting XI against Chelsea on Sunday. Current interim boss Michael Carrick named an unusual starting XI for the visit to the Premier League leaders.

Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped to the bench by Carrick, with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho playing in attack.

Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Fred were all picked in a defence-minded midfield.

Eric Bailly was given a rare start in defence due to the absence of club captain Harry Maguire, who was suspended.

United picked up a well-earned point in a 1-1 draw and held the lead for some of the second half.

“Disappointed actually,” he told Sky Sports.

“When you are in front in a game like this, to have it taken away is disappointing.

“I’m proud of the players and the group all week. In a difficult situation we tried to make the best of it.

“But there is that little bitter feeling. We came to win the game. A little disappointed, I can’t lie.”
