Gareth Bale is keen on a transfer to Manchester United but Real Madrid chiefs would rather sell him to their Premier League rivals Chelsea, reports in Spain claim.

The Wales international has long been linked with a return to English football and Bale has his eye on a move to Old Trafford.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are thought to have expressed an interest in bringing the former Tottenham Hotspur man back to the UK this summer, but Madrid would prefer to do business with the Blues, according to Marca.

Real and Chelsea have a good working relationship and the deal could be influenced by Madrid’s pursuit of Eden Hazard.

Bale moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Spurs back in 2013 and has won the Champions League on four occasions but time is running out for Real Madrid to recoup a large portion of the £86million fee they paid to bring him to La Liga.

The Spanish giants believe they can cash in on the 29-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2022, this summer for a hefty fee and are keen to thrash a deal with one of the Premier League giants.

They are hoping to sell him for £131m but it’s unknown if the two clubs would be willing to fork out so much.
