Microsoft is announcing the official Games with Gold September 2019 lineup later this month.
The big news will be shared before the end of August and likely during the final week. And if that is indeed the plan, Xbox One gamers will be waiting a little longer for the reveal.
What we do know is that the Games With Gold roster for September will include at least two Xbox One and Xbox 360 games.
The official lineup for August was revealed on July 30, meaning we could be waiting until the same date this month for the big news.
The best AAA titles made available by Microsoft during 2019 appear in August and include Forza Motorsport 6 and Gears of War 4.
And fans will be keen to see more of their like announced over the coming months and into the end of 2019.
Unlike PlayStation, Microsoft doesn’t have a typical day in the month where their next selection of free games is announced.
Luckily for Xbox Live Gold members that there are plenty of other freebies are available over the coming days.
As an example, today is the final day in which gamers can download and play Generation Zero for free.
Currently part of the Free Play Days event run by Microsoft, fans can install the shooter over the next 24 hours. It’s expected that the Gen Zero trial will end in the early hours of Monday, as others have in the UK.
Very much a Marmite experience for gamers (love or hate it) Generation Zero is based on 1980’s Sweden during a crisis involving killer robots.
A lack of direction and things to do on the map can hamper it but it can also excel when it comes to battling dangerous metallic foes, some of which can be enormous.
Players don’t need to enter this world alone, so gamers with an Xbox Live Gold account should be able to drop into other people’s games without any troubles this weekend.
“Experience an explosive game of cat and mouse set in a vast open-world,” the official game description reads.
“In this reimagining of 1980’s Sweden – rendered with the award-winning Apex game engine – hostile machines have invaded the serene countryside, and you need to fight back! Go it alone, or team-up with up to three of your friends in seamless co-op multiplayer.
“By utilising battle tested guerilla tactics, you’ll be able to lure, cripple, or destroy enemies in intense, creative sandbox skirmishes.”
Generation Zero has continued to receive free updates since it launched earlier in 2019 and this weekend could be the perfect time to gauge your own interest in it.
However, the one drawback to play Gen Zero today is that you will need to find around 50GB to install it on your Xbox One.
The size of the download will mean a longer wait time to play it, and the size of the map means you’ll probably only get to experience a small part of Gen Zero.
And if battling big scary robots with bullets isn’t your thing, you can also access the latest NBA 2K20 Demo on Xbox One.
This is the first taste of the game before the full version arrives in September, bringing with a wave of new updates and improvements.
The NBA 2K20 Demo can be found on the Microsoft Store site on Xbox One and allows fans to test out the new MyPLAYER Builder and experiment with multiple MyPLAYER builds before the full game officially tips off.
The trial version is smaller than Gen Zero to download, weighing in at just over 17GB on Xbox One.
