Frank Leboeuf makes prediction for Manchester United vs Manchester City

Frank Leboeuf is expecting Manchester City to beat Manchester United in the same manner they swept Chelsea aside in the Premier League last weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s City face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with a place in the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on the line.

Spurs booked their spot in the final on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 win over Championship outfit Brentford and they will learn their opponents later on Wednesday.

City and United shared a point apiece in this same fixture in the Premier League earlier this season after a drab 0-0 draw.

Both are flying high in the table, with United level on points with Liverpool at the top of the league – with a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s side – and City four points further behind in fifth but with a game in hand on United.

The two sides head into this game off the back of wins. United beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Friday night before City humbled Chelsea 3-1.

And Leboeuf expect City – who he views as the superior team – to enjoy a similar win over United to book a final against Spurs.

‘I want to see the same team, because I want to see the same performance,’ Leboeuf told ESPN. ‘Like that, I can level the power of Manchester United comparing to Chelsea.

‘I think that City is above both teams so I want City to show to the world that they’re back to – even though it’s not the Premier League they’ll be playing in – being contenders.

‘I’m expecting the same type of game, same type of result, same type of performance.

‘Therefore, the same team, the first XI. They don’t have much choice, they’re on a good road right now and they have to keep on going if they want to go through and maybe play a final but also reassure everyone about their future.’
