Footage shows Lewis Capaldi ambushed by Scots football pundits in beer garden

Lewis Capaldi was spotted enjoying a pint in a Glasgow beer garden by Old Firm legends from the Open Goal podcast.

The Scots singer, 24, was with pals in the Record Factory when he was greeted by the football pundits, including ex-Rangers stars Kevin Kyle and Andy Halliday and ex- Celtic player Frank McAvennie.

Open Goal co-stars Paul Slane and Si Ferry quizzed the Someone You Loved singer on football – and the rather chaotic exchange was captured on video.

In a video clip uploaded to Twitter, Lewis joked there is ‘more to life than football’ after he was asked whether Man City player Phil Phoden is better than Paul Gascoigne.

“There’s been a lot of controversy. Phil Phoden is better than Paul Gascoigne. Lewis, would you agree with that?” Paul asked.

Taking a sip of his pint, Lewis replied: “Listen guys, I thin what’s really important is that we all come together. It’s been a hard couple of months.

“I think what I’ve really realised is that there are more important things in life than football.”

The Open Goal gang then broke into song, with the whole squad singing along to the meme song It’s Friday Then Saturday Sunday (What!).

Lewis then looked into the camera and said: “Wherever you are guys, I just want you to know – love each other, enjoy life.

“And I want to say something else, the Super League was a good idea.”

Things quickly descended into chaos at the end of the clip, with Si appearing to steal Lewis’ beer before the group sang Someone You Loved.

The video quickly racked up more than 3,000 likes as fans took to the comments to crack jokes.

Lewis has been quiet on social media for the past few months and has been working hard on music for his new follow-up album.

The singer was forced to cancel all his shows this year, including TRNSMT, due to making music.
