Floyd Mayweather will have trouble with Logan Paul in their exhibition boxing match in February, reckons former Mayweather opponent Victor Ortiz.

The unbeaten boxing legend will take on the YouTube star in an exhibition bout on 20 February in what can be considered a grotesque mismatch, despite Paul’s significant size advantage.

Ortiz is not of that opinion, though, having trained with the YouTuber and seeing his skills in action.

Vicious, who was knocked out by Money in 2011, is not quite going as far as tipping his friend to avenge that loss, but does think Paul will give a very good account of himself.

‘I know what I know, and I know what I see,’ Ortiz told MMAFighting. ‘What I’m saying, in a sense, is that he will give Floyd trouble.

‘He’s a dear friend, and I believe in him. I’m telling you, it’s going to be an interesting fight. I’ve talked to him about Floyd a few times. … I give him the simple things: “Floyd is Floyd, but you’re unstoppable. You’re on another level.”

‘I strongly believe Floyd will have trouble. Logan can box, and he has power, reach speed, and he can move now.’

Mayweather retired from professional boxing, not for the first time, when he stopped Conor McGregor in their August 2017 fight.

Since then he has limited himself to exhibition outings, having stopped Tenshin Nasukawa within one round on New Year’s Eve 2018.

While this is an exhibition rather than a professional fight, Ortiz feels Paul will trouble the 43-year-old more than McGregor did.

‘Conor couldn’t do nothing,’ said Ortiz. I don’t mean to speak bad. Conor’s a heck of a UFC fighter in the octagon, but he has no business in a ring, as opposed to someone like Logan – Logan learned in a ring.

‘So his stuff is all stand-up. Everything about Logan is boxing, angles, moving, so it’s two different worlds.’

Mike Tyson is significantly less confident in Logan Paul’s abilities, telling the man himself that he can expect a serious beating.

‘Floyd’s gonna beat his f***ing ass,’ Tyson said on Paul’s ImPaulsive podcast.

‘But it’s gonna be good! It’s gonna be good, he’s gonna fight back though!’
