Floyd Mayweather insists he is ‘retired’ after Logan Paul clash and has no plans for more exhibition fights

Floyd Mayweather Jr has suggested he will not fight again following his exhibition bout with Logan Paul.

Mayweather fought eight rounds under exhibition rules against the YouTube sensation in Miami on Sunday night, controlling the contest but unable to knock out his novice opponent.

‘Money’ originally retired from boxing in 2015 following victory over Andre Berto, returning two years later to seal a TKO victory over UFC star Conor McGregor and extend his professional record to 50-0.

He has twice fought in hugely lucrative exhibition bouts since then, beating Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 before Sunday’s bout against Paul.

In his post-fight interview, Paul left the door open for a second fight with the boxing legend.

His younger brother Jake Paul, who will take on former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in August, was involved in a wild brawl with Mayweather last month with the 24-year-old also eager to fight the former world champion.

Mayweather himself has also teased the possibility of a second fight with McGregor, describing a rematch with the Dubliner as an ‘easy’ fight last week.

But the 44-year-old has now suggested he will hang up his gloves for good.

‘Will I make a comeback? Absolutely not,’ Mayweather said in his post-fight press conference.

‘I have retired from the sport of boxing. I probably won’t do an exhibition again either.

‘If he would have fought more, it wouldn’t have lasted eight rounds. I am just blessed to build a legacy and build a fortune from it.

‘I have made some smart investments and everything is paid for. We did what we had to do tonight.’
