Floyd Mayweather describes training routine for Logan Paul fight

Floyd Mayweather has described his training routine that he has undertaken in preparation for his bout with Logan Paul on Sunday night.

The boxing icon will take on the YouTuber in an exhibition fight in Miami, though it will not count towards either man’s professional record.

Mayweather has earned a reputation as one of the sport’s best ever fighters and holds a remarkable record of not losing any of his 50 professional fights so far.

His decision to take on YouTuber Paul has been widely derided by many as an insult to the sport of boxing, but it will still go ahead as planned.

The American has retired from boxing three times over the course of his career, with his last professional fight coming in 2017 against Conor McGregor.

He won that mega-bout with a technical knock-out in the tenth round after outlasting the Irishman’s stamina.

Mayweather did return to the ring a year later, facing kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition bout in Japan.

The American won that fight in the first round with a technical knock-out, after knocking down his opponent three times.

He is now set to return to the ring once again this weekend when he takes on Paul, who will be taking part in just his third boxing match.

Paul previously drew with fellow YouTuber KSI before losing the rematch to the Englishman in his professional boxing debut.

Mayweather is widely expected to ease to victory over his compatriot and clearly does not expect to face much of a test from his opponent.

At a pre-fight press event, Mayweather revealed that while he has taken part in some training for the bout, it has not been rigorous.

Who will win the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul? Comment below.

“I didn’t have no camp. I just went to the gym every once in a while to shake out every once in a while. You know, spar every once in a while,” he told Boxing Social.

“It was funny, I think my assistant said everybody thought the blood was photoshopped and I was like ‘man those people crazy’. It was good though.”

The boxer also highlighted that he believes Paul’s tactics will be centred around using his advantage in height.

“I just want to go out there and have fun. I’m going to go out there and do what I do best,” Mayweather told Showtime Sports.

“He’s banking on his height. He’s banking on his reach. So, we’ll just see. I’m in good shape, you guys will see.”

Mayweather also stated that in comparison to his super-fight against McGregor, when his fitness helped him to come out on top, his training regime has been similar.

“For this, same thing. Trained a little bit, a little bit here and there. Not every day, but I don’t have to,” he said.

While he believes he knows what Paul’s tactics will be, Mayweather also surprisingly stated he is yet to watch any of Paul’s previous fight.

“No. I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen, but I don’t really know Jake or Logan Paul,” he said when asked if he had reviewed footage of Paul’s defeat to KSI.
