Manchester United captain Harry Maguire tipped Jadon Sancho to go on a scoring run after the winger finally netted his first goal for the club.

The former Manchester City man scored late on in United’s 2-0 win against Villarreal on Tuesday evening to bag his first goal since moving to Old Trafford.

Sancho, like many of his new team-mates, has struggled for form so far this term but there’s no denying the former Dortmund man’s ability.

The 21-year-old’s team-mates surrounded him after his goal, clearly delighted that he’s finally ended his duck.

Maguire has had his own struggles this term but the England defender was clearly delighted for Sancho and said the goal was the ‘first of many’ for the winger with the Red Devils.

Taking to Instagram, Maguire wrote: ‘First of many’ and followed it up with the clapping emoji after tagging Sancho in the post.

Sancho will now hope to start in Sunday’s clash against in-form Chelsea, who beat Juventus 4-0 at Stamford Bridge later on in the night.

Michael Carrick is still expected to be in charge for the trip, though United have stepped up their search for an interim manager.

United have held initial talks with Ernesto Valverde over taking charge, while Rudi Garcia has since been interviewed.

Mauricio Pochettino is the club’s first choice to succeed Solskjaer but there’s doubts over whether the Argentine would make the move midway through the season.
